BASF actively develops biodegradable plastics

BASF recently expressed its willingness to support Beijing's “Green Olympics” with environmentally friendly materials. Its product called Ecoflex® is a 100% biodegradable plastic made from fossil fuels.

Ecoflex® is mainly used to improve the performance of renewable raw materials. Renewable raw materials such as starch, polylactic acid (PLA), polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA), etc., can be greatly improved in performance, and develop more New application areas. Biodegradable packaging materials made from Ecoflex® or blends containing Ecoflex® can be completely decomposed within a few weeks under composting conditions. The use of packaging materials can significantly reduce the “white pollution” that is a headache. Ecoflex® has been certified by European, Japanese and American standards.

BASF has become a member of the Biodegradable Materials Working Group (BMG). The working group is an organization that sets standards for biodegradable products (BDP) and is committed to widely publicizing, using, and processing BDP in China through technologies, application seminars, and pilot projects.
