Two Peer-to-Peer Network Connections in Desktop Publishing Computer Networks

1. Establish peer-to-peer network in DOS environment and WINDOWS9X environment 1. Join peer-to-peer network on WIN9X computer. I believe most people who have installed WIN9X understand that it takes about five steps.

Add a Peer-to-Peer Network to a DOS Computer To connect a DOS work platform to a peer-to-peer network, first copy the "Microsoft NETWork Client V3.0 for MS DOS and Windows" installation disk (this disk can be used for Winsows NT4.0 Server). Copy the Disk1 and Disk2 files from the version of Clients\MS Client\DISKS to two floppy disks.)
(1) Insert the first disk into the DOS workstation's floppy drive and run the SETUP.EXE program on it.

(2) When the "Setup for Microsoft NetWork Client 3.0 for MS DOS" message appears, press the Enter key.

(3) Set the installation directory, the default is "C:\NET".

(4) When the “Set NetWork Buffers” message appears, press the Enter key to use the maximum number of buffer hits, otherwise press the “C” key.

(5) In the "User Name" that appears next, enter the user name for logging in to the peer network.

(6) After entering the "NetWork Configuration" window, set the following three groups of network options:

A.Change Name

Change User Name: Enter or change the user name.

Change Conputer Name: Enter or change the computer name.

Change Workgroup Name: Enter or change the domain name (must be consistent with the name of this network workgroup).

Change Domain Name: Enter or change the domain name (same name as the workgroup in the peer network).

B. Change Setup Options

Change Redir Options: Select "Full Redirector".

Change start up Options: Select "Run Network Client".

Change Logon Validation: "Do Not Logon to Donain".

Change Not pop Hot Key : Can not be changed.

C.Change Network Configuration

Here you can select or add network card and network communication protocols. The network protocol should change the default "NW link IPX Compatible Transport" to "Microsoft NetBEUI".

It is worth noting that: DOS computer can not set shared resources, but you can use shared resources, use the net use <logical drive name> + UNC (Uniform Naming Convention uniform naming) format you can map the shared resources on the specified computer to DOS machine A logical drive, such as: NET USE F:\\RIP\C, can map the C drive named RIP to the local F drive. Or type the command NET Enter to enter the graphical interface of the shared resource and press UNC format to input.

2. Install PC-MacLAN on WIN9X. Enter the Owner Name and Owner Password as defined in the Sharing setup of the Mac in the username and password options as prompted. 3. Apple shares PC files Run PC-MacLAN's "File Server" on WIN9X: Press the "Server" button in the dialog box. Fill in the PC's computer name in the pop-up dialog box. Press the "User" button to fill in the user. Name (password can be set); press "Share button, set the directory where Apple wants to share the PC; press "Start Server" to start sharing.
On the Mac, click "Apple icon" and select "Chooser". The networking window appears. Double-click on the "Apple Share" icon. After selecting "PC-MacLAN" in "selec file scrver", click the "OK" button and select the "Guest" point again. "Connect" appears with the shared file icon. Clicking "OK" will pop the icon onto the Mac desktop.
