The success of the development of the ballpoint pen market is always an innovator

The invention of ballpoint pens has been a very inconvenient thing for nearly two thousand years. People write with black liquid through capillary tubes, which lasted for thousands of years. For centuries, the reform of the pen has focused on how to extend the time interval between dripping, and progress has been extremely slow. It was not until the 19th century that various types of pens that could hold water appeared, and a breakthrough was made in 1884. LE Waterman (L. E. Waterman), an insurance salesman in New York City, designed the first available fountain pen. His invention made the fountain pen the main writing instrument for nearly half a century in the twentieth century. After so many years of development, the function and model of the fountain pen have been improved. There are four major sellers on the market: Parker, Sheaffer, Waterman, Wahl-Eversharp.

The commercial ballpoint pen came out at the end of World War II. It was not invented by the four fountain pen companies, but the credit of two Hungarians. The Hungarian journalist Biro still feels inconvenient to use the pen in the news shorthand: sometimes the ink runs out and is caught off guard; sometimes the pen tip is blocked and the water is so eager to die that the pen tip will break the paper. So, Biro decided to develop a pen that didn't need to be refilled and written quickly and fluently.

Biro asked his brother Geer for help. After two years of tossing, the brothers turned their ideas into an invention in 1938. Biro applied for a patent for the invention in the UK under the name “oil-soluble pen” and also established a small factory employing 17 female workers in the town of Leding, England, to produce “oil-soluble pens”. After the outbreak of the Second World War, the Biro brothers moved to Argentina in South America. There, they continued to set up factories to manufacture "oil-soluble pens" and advertised them, but their products were still not well-off, the ink was too thick to grasp, the writing often made a lot of oil, and the products were seriously unsalable. In 1944 they sold their invention patents to Wahl-Eversharp in the United States.
