The invention of the invention can display raw and cooked stickers for fruits and vegetables

An agricultural expert at the University of Arizona recently invented a sticker label that can show the freshness and maturity of fruits and vegetables through color changes.

The media here reported on the 27th that Mark Riley, an assistant professor of agricultural and biological systems engineering at the University of Arizona, invented the “measuring” sticker. This sticker can detect the ethylene gas emitted by fruits and vegetables during ripening, and the color will also turn blue from white to white. The more ethylene gas emitted by fruits and vegetables, the deeper the blue color. Consumers can choose different fruits and vegetables according to the sticker color.

Riley said that when people buy fruits and vegetables, they often buy unfamiliar or over-ripened fruits and vegetables because they are “inconsistent”. With this sticker label, buying fruits and vegetables becomes much easier.

Riley reminded that after the sticker is applied to fruits and vegetables, it will not change color immediately. It usually takes 24 hours to 48 hours. The maturity of different fruits and vegetables can be reflected on the stickers. In addition, since the ethylene gas emitted during the maturation of some fruits and vegetables is very limited, the stickers are “powerless” to judge their maturity.

The price of this sticker label is only 1 cent per piece, and it will be available for trial use by fruit and vegetable growers next year.
