Taiwan builds an exhibition hall with plastic bottles

Taipei, Taiwan A three-story exhibition hall built with 1.5 million plastic bottles was completed in Taiwan. The exhibition hall was built by Taiwan Far East Group, Taiwan’s financial and construction company, and it took three years to complete.

According to design contractor Xiao Zhi R&D Sustainable Energy Development Co., Ltd., these plastic bottles are collected from Taiwan's local waste stream and are processed into a solid interlocking block, enough to withstand the impact of the earthquake.

The temporary exhibition hall named EcoARK costs US$4.2 million with an air-conditioning system powered by rainwater harvesting. After the upcoming fashion show in this area, the wall panels of the exhibition hall will be removed and re-installed elsewhere.
