Cast film corona treatment

According to Dr. Peter Palm, the requirements for corona treaters are not the same, depending on the actual application. In film extrusion, cast film processing is the most difficult. The reason for this is that the cast film has poor heat resistance and the base material has a small tension. Therefore, it is necessary to ensure that the back surface is not treated. Generally, high-dose additives such as a high-slip additive CPP film are required. In order to meet these requirements, the corona treater must be specially designed.

When casting films are extruded, it is important to avoid folding valves. Dr. Peter Palm believes that the following measures should be taken: a coating roll is arranged in front of each corona treatment roll, a nip is set at the contact line between the film and the treatment roll, a treatment roll is arranged, and electric power is distributed on the multi-blade electrode.
Practice has proved that the motor-type bow spreading roller (banana-shaped roller) is superior to other designs. The clamping roller should be designed with high rigidity and anti-static special rubber coating. The length and diameter can be determined according to the convex surface.

Finally, miniaturization of the electrode design is important to help integrate the corona treater with the customer's production line.
