Outdoor Classroom: Some Coping Techniques for Rogue Dogs When Cycling

There are many motor vehicles in New York; Colorado is seriously deprived of oxygen; Poland has a monsoon; California roads are crippled; New England ice is thawed in May; the Midwest is a wind tunnel; and in the southeast, where I train now is a dog. Every time training is not disturbed by the dog that is eating food, it is forced to increase the training intensity!

Dogs have already threatened cyclists. I know some people carry peppers with them, and others use dog handlers. I will not do that. I may shave my legs and wander in leotards. I'm willing to work hard to maintain a light body, but I can use my own strength to gain a place in the food chain.

So, next time you go out for a ride, if there is another dog who wants to treat you as a lunch, remember my advice.

do not panic. This is the headline principle for safe riding and encountering dogs is still valid. Even if you are alone, do not suddenly turn. On several occasions, I was hit by a car to avoid a dog.

Escape will give the dog a message: it is a predator and you are its prey. Escape also encourages dogs to chase you. As people say, dogs can smell fear.

prediction. Dogs are harder to predict than cars, but they are far less dangerous. Most dogs may run side by side with you, slowly approaching. However, this type of dog is generally only arrogant and does not bite people. The real danger is that dogs who are too brave or too stupid jump straight ahead of you.

Just like other road hazards, it's best to look up at past vehicles before you approach a fierce dog. In addition, this kind of thing likes to gather together, if you see one, there must be a few around.

Identify prey. When several people rode together, the dogs were chasing the leader along the road. If you are a team leader and have courage, don't brake. If you are not the team leader, take some distance from the front and take out your camera.

Be a provocateur. Dogs are a dangerous road that can see you. Think of this as your advantage. Because you can't scare the pits and stones on the pavement, the way to get rid of the dogs is to overwhelm their aggressiveness.

Stand up and form an overwhelming momentum. When dogs approach, they suddenly turn to them. Yes, it was directed at the fierce dogs, but it was not to strike these poor creatures, but to give them a message. Then is my favorite part - loud dog learning. This trick has been tried and tested and is quite interesting.

Watering with a kettle is also useful. However, doing so may irritate some unreasonable masters.

Warn the driver that the cyclist has seen too many animals that have been killed. Let us do our best not to let the dogs be listed on the death list. Every time a car approaches, I will make a "decelerate" gesture and point to the dogs next to me.
