The three we will introduce below are typical representatives of the new generation of keyboard printing technology. Their common feature is that they are all committed to solving the balance between firmness and aesthetics in keyboard printing. But the price paid is that these three new printing technologies are more complicated and extremely costly than the three traditional printing methods.
Laser Filling Technology
Keyboards printed with this technology have already begun to see some in the market, especially in black keyboards that are not traditionally suitable for laser printing. Its principle is a bit like "tattoo".
Tattoo is to use a needle to make fine lines on the skin, and then fill it with paint, so that the color will penetrate into the lines of the skin and will not be washed away or worn away in the future. The same is true of laser filler technology.
For keyboards made with laser filler technology, first print the text with laser printing (but it is lighter than the usual laser printing to keep the surface flat), and then use the oil printing method for secondary printing, so that the cured ink will Infiltrate the scratches left by the laser and stay in it, and it will not be easily removed afterwards.
The keyboard printed by laser filler technology makes up for the defects of poor laser printing fonts and inability to print color due to the secondary printing of ink, and because of the laser scoring as the basis, its firmness is much higher than Simple ink printing.
Whether secondary printing uses screen printing or pad printing is not necessarily straightforward. But in terms of the characteristics of the laser filler method, pad printing seems to be more in line with the characteristics of the required ink (although both are ink printing, but the ink characteristics used in screen printing and pad printing are different. Screen printing uses a tape High-permeability UV ink with ultraviolet light quick-drying paint, and pad printing uses special printing ink with hardener).
Sublimation printing
The keyboard that uses the sublimation printing method is only the brand RealForce that we introduced not long ago.
Dye sublimation printing is a printing method that is very different from ordinary ink printing. It uses not common liquid pigment inks but solid resin inks. This ink will sublimate into a gaseous state at high temperature, and permeate into the surface of the permeable printed matter in the form of gaseous molecules and sublimate. Therefore, it is physically integrated with the printing surface, not just "sticking" to the printing surface like ordinary pigment inks. Therefore, the firmness of its printing is extremely high. In addition, resin-based inks are inherently superior in gloss and shape. The most common method of sublimation printing is the service of "baking printing" photos of ceramic cups.
When sublimation printing is used for keyboard printing, the ink will completely "seep" the inner layer of the ABS plastic of the button, so it is almost impossible to be worn off, and the sublimation printed text has a three-dimensional sense and gloss. But the process of sublimation printing is much more complicated than ordinary pigment ink printing. So apart from the high price, regardless of the cost of the RealForce keyboard, it seems that I haven't heard that others have used this printing method.
Hollow text method
This printing method has only been used by Apple computers on its laptop keyboards. But in fact, this printing method is not uncommon, because although there are very few users on the computer keyboard, the other keyboard, the mobile phone keyboard, is almost all printed in this way.
It is very simple to say. This printing method is to use transparent materials to make the keys, and then cover the surface of the keys with opaque paint, and then hollow out the surface as "yin" according to the text. If you apply paint to the inside of the keys that do not touch your fingers, the text will naturally never wear out.
In fact, the main purpose of Apple's printing method does not seem to be strong handwriting, or because it is beautiful first. Because this hollowed out font is "engraved", it is clearer and brighter than the mimeograph. And like a mobile phone keyboard, a backlight circuit can be installed under the keys of the hollow text, so that the notebook keyboard has an excellent backlight effect like a mobile phone keyboard.
However, the defects of the hollow text method are also obvious. When this transparent material is used to make a keyboard, its elasticity, hardness, and wear resistance are inherently inferior to ordinary keycap materials. In fact, no matter whether it is printed with hollow text or not, the transparent keycap material has not yet had a touch of traditional black and white ABS plastic. This is also something that cannot be done.
