For electronic and electrical products exported to the EU, the CE certification mark must be affixed to the product or the outer packaging; products exported to North America must be affixed with UL, cUL or ETL, cETL certification marks, otherwise the product will be prohibited Regional circulation. In addition, the European Union has recently issued WEEE and RoHS directives, Japan and South Korea have also revised their "Electronic Appliance Safety Management Law". The United States, Russia and Australia, New Zealand and other countries also have specific laws and regulations on market access for electrical products. Technical measures. So how to prove that the product meets the requirements of these legal and technical measures? This requires testing by an independent third-party testing agency to show compliance with the relevant laws and regulations of the host country and obtain the corresponding product certification mark, which is what we usually see on the outer packaging of exported electronic and electrical products Different certification marks are printed, which shows that certification can regulate a country's import and export trade capacity. UL Mark

UL Mark Overview

UL is short for Underwriter Laboratories Inc. UL Underwriters Laboratories is the most authoritative in the United States and a large private institution engaged in safety testing and identification in the world. It is an independent, non-profit, professional institution that conducts tests for public safety. UL was founded in 1894. In the initial stage, UL mainly relied on the funds provided by the fire insurance department to maintain its operation. It was not until 1916 that UL was fully independent. After nearly a hundred years of development, UL has become a world-renowned certification body, which has its own set of strict organizational management systems, standard development and product certification procedures. UL is composed of a safety expert, government officials, consumers, education, public utilities, insurance industry and standards department representatives to form a council management, daily work is handled by the president and vice president. Currently, UL has five laboratories in the United States, headquartered in the town of Northbrook in northern Chicago, and has established corresponding laboratories in Taiwan and Hong Kong, China.

For the different service types of UL, the UL mark can be divided into three categories, namely listing, classification and approval mark.

1. Listed (Listed). Only used for complete products and various devices or devices that are replaced or installed by qualified personnel on site. Products that belong to the UL listing service include: IT equipment, AV equipment, refrigerators, vacuum cleaners and other electrical equipment. If the final product needs to be marked with the UL listing mark, the sample should be tested by UL to confirm that it has no hidden dangers of fire and electrical hazards.

2. Recognized. Recognition is mainly a safety certification implemented for components and materials. The components approved by the accreditation service will be assembled in the finished product, and the components must meet the relevant permit conditions before they can be applied to the corresponding finished product. Such as: switches, power supplies, printed plates, transformers, wires, plugs, plastic materials are all approved objects.

3. Classification. UL's grading service is a safety certification program that conducts special performance evaluations such as hazards for products used in commercial or industrial environments in accordance with relevant laws and regulations. The grading service is mainly for building materials, various fire protection equipment and navigation equipment.

The three signs are used for products with three different services, and cannot be mixed, otherwise they can be considered as counterfeit products.
