Select RGB workspace
Choosing an RGB workspace is looking for a balance. On the one hand, the workspace you need should have a large enough color space to contain the color space of all the devices in the entire workflow. On the other hand, the selected workspace may be too large. When processing images in RGB, there are 255 levels of intensity for each color. The larger the RGB workspace, the further the distance between two adjacent color values. Therefore, the sense of jump between two color intensity levels is very obvious.
Select RGB workspace:
Do one of the following:
In Windows, choose Edit > Color Settings.
In Mac OS, choose Photoshop > Color Settings.
Under Workspace, choose an option from the RGB menu:
Adobe RGB (1998)
It is the largest recommended RGB workspace and is suitable for printing works with a wide range of colors.
Apple RGB
It reflects the features of the old 13-inch Mac OS monitor. This space is suitable for working with legacy desktop publishing files, or for simulating Photoshop 4.0 and earlier versions.
ColorMatch RGB
It matches the color space of the old Radius Pressview monitor's own display. This space is a smaller alternative color gamut than Adobe RGB (1998) for printing.
sRGB
It is used to reflect the characteristics of a typical PC monitor. sRGB is suitable for RGB images on the Web but is not recommended for printing.
Monitor RGB
It sets the RGB workspace to the current display's color space. Use this setting when trying to match RGB colors in non-color-managed applications such as Adobe GoLive.
ColorSync RGB
(Mac OS) Matches the RGB color space specified in the Apple ColorSync control panel.
Note: Each RGB profile on your computer is displayed in the RGB workspace menu when the Advanced Mode option is selected in the Color Settings dialog box. You can even choose "Custom RGB" to define your own RGB workspace. It is only recommended for users who have a good knowledge of color to use this option.
Select CMYK workspace
CMYK workspaces are usually based on actual ink and paper combinations. When the Advanced Mode option is not selected in the Color Settings dialog box, you can choose from six ICC Printing Profiles and Custom CMYK. Mac OS users can also select the ColorSync profile specified in the Color Sync preferences. This setting matches the CMYK space specified in the Apple ColorSync Dashboard.
About color management solutions
The color management scheme determines how to handle color data that does not match the current color workspace. When opening a document or importing color data into an active document, the plan provides guidance on what you should do. For workspace information, see About workspaces.
Custom advanced color management settings
When you select Advanced Mode in the Photoshop Color Settings dialog box, you can specify some conversion options to use these options to manipulate the colors in the document when the document is moved from one color space to another. You can also specify Some advanced control options: Represent color space that is larger than the display's color gamut by reducing display color saturation; control how RGB colors are mixed. If you turn off Advanced Mode, you cannot access these options.
