Ball stated in a press release that "the word 'aseptic' actually means 'does not contain pathogenic organisms', and the aseptic filling process can all cause deterioration of the product without affecting the taste and nutrition of the product. The organics are all removed so that an aseptically packaged beverage can be safely transported and stored without preservatives and cooling for up to six months."
