At present, with the application of new and high technologies and the continuous emergence of new materials, new types of printing technologies and materials are emerging in the field of printing technology. Moreover, the traditional printing technologies are constantly improving, and the modern printing industry is experiencing unprecedented changes.
However, looking at the entire printing industry today, there are many ways to print technology. The most basic printing methods are: letterpress printing, lithographic offset printing, gravure printing, flexographic printing, and screen printing. They occupy the vast majority of the printing industry. Many of the new and special printing processes described in the chapters of this book are based on the above five types of printing processes and are derived from, or directly use, the printing technology. Therefore, at the beginning of this book, it is necessary to give a certain description of the basic knowledge of the five kinds of commonly used printing processes to facilitate readers to better understand the contents of the following chapters and to better understand the characteristics of various new printing processes and Claim.
In order to fully understand the basic printing technology knowledge, we must first understand the characteristics of the general printing process. The above five types of commonly used printing processes, the general plate making, printing technology process shown in Figure 1-1.
The general printing process must begin after the printing plate is finished. The production of the character version must go through a series of processing such as searching for single words, composing a layout, proofing, repeated proofreading, and correcting mistakes. In the production of the image version, the original image of the image must be photographed or scanned for color separation, recorded on a photosensitive material or a disk, an optical disk, etc., and the levels and colors should be corrected to make monochrome or color proofs. Graphic prints also combine text and illustrations into a full-page layout. In short, a series of technical processing must be carried out before printing, and foreign countries are collectively referred to as prepress processing, and our country is collectively referred to as platemaking. It mainly includes four parts: electronic typesetting, electronic color separation, full-page group edition and color proofing. The complexity of the pre-press treatment process varies with the printing method, and also depends on the print quality requirements and batch size.
The printing plate produced by the plate making process is printed in a corresponding printing mode, and the graphic information on the printing plate can be transferred to paper or other substrates to obtain a printed product.
The production process of obtaining the prints with the required shape and performance is collectively referred to as post-press processing, such as book binding, die-cutting and indentation processing of the packaging carton, and the like.
