In 2005 China will recycle more than 5 million tons of waste plastics

Turning stones into gold, turning waste into treasure will soon become a reality. According to the "Tenth Five-Year Development Plan for the Recycling of Renewable Resources," recently released by the State Economic and Trade Commission, it is expected that by 2005, the total value of China's renewable resources will be worth more than 55 billion yuan.

By then, the annual recovery of China's major renewable resource categories will be 36 million to 37 million tons of scrap steel, 2 million tons of non-ferrous metals, 500 to 6 million tons of waste plastics, and 17 million tons of waste paper; 800,000 recycling and dismantling scrapped automobiles. Vehicles, dismantling 1 million light tons of waste ships, tire renovation total 7.9 million, waste household appliances and waste computer recycling amounted to more than 80% of total waste.

In order to achieve the above objectives, during the “10th Five-Year Plan” period, the state will focus on the construction of renewable resource processing bases with a certain scale and level, and take this as the center to form an industrial chain for recycling, processing, and utilization of renewable resources; research and development of a batch of urgently needed waste Material harmless treatment technology and renewable resources processing and utilization technology; build a number of renewable resources of different levels, types, and scales to return to the collection and distribution base and the standardized renewable resources trading market, and promote the scale management of recycling, processing, and utilization of renewable resources.
