The hair salon from Kyoto's design practice studio sides core in Kyoto aims to create a visually simple and conceptually elegant elegance in Japan through a ventilated space. The space is named "flux" and consists of a bare concrete table top, partitions, suspended light curtains, and mirrors.
The space was preceded by a car showroom, and the existing space, including floor-to-ceiling windows, was paired with a white transparent curtain to give the store a hint of gentle breeze. This hair salon has almost no furniture and items that will destroy its cleanliness, while the double-sided mirror in the center gives a wider and brighter space.
Among the flux, the sides core hope that these mirrors can become the center of the salon, and the mirrors reflected on both sides are shaped like a book, each offering three seats for the guests. These suspended items are 1.5 meters above the ground, so the hair stylist can easily see through the space without any obscuration.
The exposed equipment on the ceiling breaks the complete cleanliness while taking advantage of its depth to increase the concept of space ventilation. All partitions in the space are lower than the ceiling, adding a sense of transparency and lightness.
