Foshan, Guangdong, plans to build more than 100 educational maker spaces

The report mainly summarizes the historical development track of Maker and Maker Education, summarizes the major events of Foshan Education Maker Circle and well-known Maker Tutors, etc. The report also proposes the main development of Maker Education and the construction of Maker Space. Standards and principles guide the development of campus maker activities.

As one of the main authors of this report, Li Xinhui, an associate professor of the School of Humanities and Education of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said that the report was substantially revised in the 2015 version, advocating the concept of integrating education innovation in the creation of the education, focusing on cultivating students. Innovative awareness and innovative ability have adapted to the educational trend of the future era.

According to the report of the 13th Five-Year Plan for the development of education in Foshan City, by 2020, 100% of the publicly-run primary and secondary schools in the city will create at least one innovative laboratory with a broad, distinctive educational maker space or feature-function room. Among them, more than 100 educational makers are built, and 10 schools have established STEAM Science and Technology Innovation Center (innovative laboratory cluster base) to encourage qualified secondary vocational schools and kindergartens to actively explore innovative maker education.

In addition, the city will further promote innovative Maker education from the aspects of teachers, curriculum, activities, environment, research, platform and evaluation, and gradually form the Foshan model of national innovation Maker education with distinctive characteristics, complete system and deep application.
