Digital printing machine selection techniques

For high-speed color copiers and black-and-white copiers, the surface-smoothed paper can have good toner adsorption and handling performance under high temperature and high speed conditions. The smoother the surface of the paper, the clearer the image. Typical paper choices: 16 pounds to 60 pounds cover paper and 110 pounds index paper.

For dry powder digital presses like the Xeikon DCP/32D Agfa Chromapress and IBM InfoColor 70, smooth, high brightness paper is best. Typical options: 24 pounds to 80 pounds cover paper, either coated or non-coated.

For the Indigo E-Print 1000+, a wet powder digital press requires a special coating to optimize toner adhesion. As long as the user has such a coating, many media can be printed on this device, so from 50 pounds of writing paper to 100 pounds of cover paper, to transparent substrates, trademarks, film and even mouse pads can be printed. With offset presses such as the Heidelberg GTO-DI and Quickmaster DI, any standard paper can work well on it.
